Stella McCartney receives a GLAMOUR Women of the Year award from Yoko, Olivia & Barbara 10 November 2009

Yoko's statement: All three of us came together with a deep feeling of love and joy for Stella’s accomplishment. Stella is family. I remember her from when she was a baby. Never thought that this baby would grow into such a magical person. Her creativity shows her free soul. And... with that, she is giving a lot to the world. I love her. All three of us do. Barbara Starkey, wife of Beatles drummer Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono, widow of Beatle John Lennon, and Olivia Harrison, widow of Beatle George Harrison, introduced designer Stella McCartney, daughter of Beatle Paul McCartney, as one of Glamour magazine’s 2009 Women of the Year at an awards ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York, Monday, Nov. 9, 2009.

Wearing a purple mini-dress she designed herself, the mother-of-three was honoured for her fashion label and her commitment to animal rights.

The 38-year-old was stunned when the widows and wife of her father Sir Paul McCartney’s Beatles bandmates came on stage to present her with the award.

John Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono, Ringo Starr’s wife Barbara Starkey and George Harrison’s widow Olivia Harrison united to praise McCartney’s work.

TAMMY'S COMMENT: What a fantastic tribute to Stella and a great family moment, i can't help but feel the three Beatle wives done this also in large part for Linda who didnt get to live long enough to see a lot of her childrens accomplishments, this is a class act and i feel a deeply loving act by Yoko, Olvia and Barbara, this really, really moved me, if anyone finds video of this, ie news report or Youtube, please post a link here.

So many contenders for favorite early photo, this has to be in the top five, it's always been printed dark but i've lightend it up a lot, if anyone has a large scan of this or can point me in the direction of where i can find this in a book so i can scan it large i'd love to hear from you.

Talk about when world's collide, here we have the first footage of James McCartney being interviewed since 1987 ('Going Live') and it's by his sister Stella while James is dining with Yoko Ono?

Can't help but feel i've slipped into a parallel universe :-)

Wonder what they talked about? .. "So Yoko, about that Salieri comment .. "

For someone like me who loves Beatle family photo's and combinations this footage is gold, you hear about all the squables but i sometimes forget they are just a big extended family, this is a great glimpse into a side we rarely see.

Thanks to a fab reader for pointing this out to me, we all know Paul loves to recycle and reuse all his old clothes over the years, but this has to be the most fantastic early example of this Macca trait.
